Karen Portaleo
Karen Portaleo is known to the cake industry as the best in the business. Her unique style and attention to detail is unprecedented. She is highly respected in the industry and even the best cake artists are in awe of her work. Her portfolio consists of cakes for some of the world’s most famous music artists and film stars from Lil Wayne, Ne Yo, Demi Moore and Sir Elton John. She recently won the 2011 Food Network show Halloween Wars with an amazing masterpiece.
Karen teaches all around the world. So you can only imagine how delighted we are to bring this class to MoC Academy. Not only did Karen accept our invitation to teach but she has offered us EXCLUSIVITY with this cake class. This means you cannot find it anywhere else!
When I met Karen for the first time, I was already a huge fan. We had spoken on the phone before and I have to say she is just a beautiful person. I had the opportunity to meet with her at Ices11 in Charlotte NC. She has the presence of a great artist and is incredibly charming.
The class is inspired by one her most renowned Food Network cakes “The Mermaid”. Students will learn from the master of modeling chocolate herself, how to create this masterpiece. Karen is known for her superior sculpting and airbrushing techniques.
Unfortunately we are selling out quickly and we only have a few spots remaining. So you will have to reserve your spot with a $200 deposit to secure your spot in this class. All supplies will be provided in the class. This is the class that you will remember for years to come.
Students will have an opportunity for a hand on class experience with the master cake artist Karen Portaleo. In this class students will sculpt with modeling chocolate and enhance their airbrushing skills.
When we had initially announced this class. We had the sensational picture of The Mermaid which was the inspiration for this class. Most students booked this class without even seeing a picture.
So one evening I got a message from Karen. She said I have something for you and below was the picture of this breathtaking mermaid you see. I have to say, i felt like I won the lottery. This was by far the most beautiful piece of cake art I have ever seen. This is not an exaggeration by any means. When you look at this cake I am sure you will also be overwhelmed by the absolute beauty and detail. I am so excited to host this class. I don’t think anything can top this unless the Meramid turned around and gave me a high five. Well I will let you enjoy the photographs that floored me. This is that moment when you just fall in love with cake all over again.
